Adrian grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and has an undergraduate degree from University of Wisconsin and a MBA from Santa Clara University. Adrian joined Cisco Systems, Inc. ten years ago and has held various marketing, manufacturing and engineering roles in Access Routers, Gigabit Switch Routers and Network Security. Currently he is the Sr. Director in IOS & Router Security and leads a marketing and engineering team with 75 employees, who are responsible for driving the strategy for IOS and Router security in Cisco’s Security Technology Group (STG). His team members are located in Chennai India; San Jose, California; Boulder, Colorado and Boxborough, Massachusetts. Prior to joining Cisco Systems, Inc. he worked for two years at Net FRAME Systems and was at Apple Computer for over six years which was his first job out of college.

  Michael Baum, President, The Guild
Michael Baum brings to The Guild a diverse and successful track record in direct marketing and in growing private and public companies. He previously served as CEO of Renaissance Learning, Inc., a leading education software developer and direct marketer. During his tenure as CEO, sales grew from $20 million to over $100 million. Baum led a highly successful IPO, repositioned corporate marketing, completed and integrated three acquisitions, and developed new products. Prior to Renaissance Learning, Baum spent a decade in executive roles at Francorp, an international franchise consulting firm where he oversaw consulting for global firms such as Mobil and Texaco. Baum began his career as a merchandiser and giftwares buyer.
 

Rimas P. Buinevicius, Founder & CEO, Sonic Foundry
Rimas P. Buinevicius, age 43, has been our Chairman of the Board since October 1997 and Chief Executive Officer since January 1997. In addition to his organizational duties, Mr. Buinevicius is a recognized figure in the rich media industry focused on the convergence of technology, digital media and entertainment. Mr. Buinevicius joined Sonic in 1994 as General Manager and Director of Marketing. Prior to joining Sonic, Mr. Buinevicius spent the majority of his professional career in the fields of biomedical and industrial control research and development.

Mr. Buinevicius earned an M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago; a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison; a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago; and is a recipient of Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Jori founded SpectraCom in 1991 and has focused her company on being at the forefront of technological developments in market research, online marketing and sales.  She uses that expertise to provide clients with strategies, products and services that have a positive, measurable impact on business processes and sales. 

Jori has been involved in setting industry direction through talks (by invitation) for the U.S. Commerce Department and the Federal Trade Commission.  She also speaks frequently at conferences and seminars around the world about the industry, including AdTech, Comdex, Direct Marketing Days, IIR’s conference on Web globalization, National Association of Broadcasters and Human Factors. Pip Coburn founded, along with his core team from UBS, a firm named Coburn Ventures, an organization that puts its knowledge about "change" to work in the realm of technology, telecom, and media investing. Prior to founding Coburn Ventures, Pip Coburn was a Managing Director and the global technology strategist in the technology group of UBS Investment Research. At UBS, he was responsible for integrating the research efforts of 120 technology and telecom analysts worldwide, and from 1999 through 2005 was a member of the firm wide Investment Committee. He has been featured in Fast Company, Barron’s, Fortune, Smart Money and MIT's Technology Review. For three years Pip wrote as a guest columnist for the Red Herring. Pip studies change for a living. In addition to writing over 300 weekly reports about technology investing, in 2004 and 2005 he released two long-term think-pieces, The Nutcracker Suite and Sour and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Changing Galaxy. These reports focus on the user-oriented "Change Function" — a mental model Pip has developed that describes why change takes place and why various technologies are either adopted or not. In June 2006 Pip released his first book not surprisingly titled, The Change Function: Why Some Technologies Take Off and Others Crash and Burn, through the Penguin Portfolio Group.  The book address why some technologies are adopted and why most are not. Cordell Crane, Strategic Security Advisor, Microsoft Corporation
Cordell has more than 15 years of IT experience. His career has covered most areas of IT including customer service, network design, security, project enablement and outsourcing. His security expertise includes regulatory compliance for such areas as Identity Management, Intrusion Detection and Incident Response that impact Security (e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, GLBA) and security for third-party hosted environments.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Cordell was Security Engagement Director for Unisys Corporation in the Chicago area. At SAVVIS Communications. His security expertise extended to the hosted environment where he managed the corporation’s largest hosted customer.  He has had security clearance for some of the most sensitive environments and hardened data centers in the US, and designed a $50 million secure worldwide managed network solution.

He is an accomplished speaker with presentations given around the globe in seminars, panels and customer briefings.  He brings a background of IT and industry breadth to the security focus Microsoft has initiated in Trustworthy Computing. He has worked in nearly all industry sectors and industry verticals, both commercial and public. He majored in International Finance at Brigham Young University and holds an MBA.

Other accomplishments include President of the Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, in St. Louis, with 9 US manufacturing plants in Tennessee, Missouri and New York. Bob successfully implemented an operational and financial turn-around of Rawlings. Bob's work with other major clients includes Sherwin Williams, Goulds Pumps, Bausch & Lomb, Birdseye Foods, Borden Foods, Welded Tube, Anchor Foods, Chrysler, Summit Technology (eye surgery lasers) and Century Products.

Prior to working at NameProtect, Malia spent several years in Internet and trademark related research in both corporate and legal environments. Malia obtained a B.S. from American Intercontinental University in Business Administration Management, graduating magna cum laude. Malia is currently serving on the INTA Reference Materials Subcommittee of the Information Resources Committee. She is also involved in local financial fraud and computer crime associations.

  Dan Jones, Vice President, Brandimensions
Mr. Jones is responsible for global sales and is charged with advancing the company’s market leading strategy, and growing the customer base. Dan brings over 20 years of successful enterprise level sales and sales management experience in the services and Internet industries. Dan is a leader and pioneer in the brand protection industry and has extensive experience building and managing the sales enterprise for an online brand management company.   In addition, Dan has played key roles in helping launch new companies from early stage to a market leading position and has experience with product development and roll-out, as well as marketing.

He earned a B.A. in Literature and graduated with honors from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington.

Jellyfish is a Robin-Hood-like shopping search engine with an innovative Internet advertising model that shares back a percentage of its ad revenues with online shoppers.  Prior to co-founding JellyFish in January of 2006, McGuire co-founded and served for eight years as President of NameProtect Inc , a vertical search engine company for Intellectual Property professionals based in Madison, Wis.  An attorney and member of the Wisconsin Bar, McGuire holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (BA with honors) and the University of Minnesota Law School (JD, magna cum laude).

John Morgridge headshot

John Morgridge, Chairman of the Board, Cisco Systems
Morgridge joined Cisco Systems in 1988 as President and CEO, and grew the company from $5 million to more than $1 billion in sales, and from 34 to more than 2,250 employees. In 1990 he took Cisco public, and in 1995 was appointed Chairman. During his tenure, Cisco has become the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, with more than $25 billion in revenues and some 47,000 employees in 77 countries.

Morgridge helped set the culture of Cisco; one of innovation, empowerment, frugality and giving back. As Chairman, he continues to champion a range of education and corporate citizenship initiatives, and is a guiding force behind the company's long-term commitment to focusing on basic human needs, responsible citizenship and access to education.

He teaches management at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and serves on its School of Business Advisory Council. In 1996, he received Stanford's Arbuckle Award for excellence in management leadership.

Prior to Cisco, Morgridge was president and COO of GRiD Systems, and before that held senior positions with Stratus Computer and Honeywell Information Systems. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from Stanford.

Morgridge and his wife, Tashia, actively support a range of education, conservation, and human services initiatives. He serves on the boards of CARE (relief), the Cisco Foundation, the Cisco Learning Institute, the Council on Competitiveness, Interplast, The Nature Conservancy, and the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF). Morgridge is also a Trustee of Stanford University.

Erik Phelps is a partner with Michael Best & Friedrich, LLP in Madison, where he provides strategic business counsel to clients on legal, transactional, and technology issues on a wide variety of IT and Internet related matters, including those related to online marketing and brand protection.  Erik returned to Michael Best (where he's previously worked) after nearly six years as the Associate General Counsel at international clothing retailer Lands’ End, Inc., where he dealt with nearly all of the company’s Internet, information systems and other technology related matters, including all aspects of online marketing.  He was instrumental in the company’s efforts to address online brand-related issues, including investigation and litigation related to online fraud.  Erik also worked in the Media and Information Technology group at Dow, Lohnes in Washington, D.C., and before becoming a lawyer, he was the information systems manager at Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan in Washington, DC. and a technology consultant to members of Congress with House Information Systems. 

Erik is an honors graduate of the George Washington University Law School, where he was a member of the law review and President of the Trial Court Board.   He also holds a B.A. in Economics and Management from Beloit College.

Mickey brings twenty years of global sourcing and supply chain management experience to her role as research director in the procurement and sourcing practice at AMR Research.  Mickey is a key member of the supply chain team and works to communicate effective procurement and sourcing strategies to AMR Research’s clients. Prior to joining AMR Research, Mickey worked at Moduslink Corporation, where she held the positions of vice president of global supply base management and director of procurement and sourcing.  At Moduslink, she was responsible for implementing strategic sourcing programs, driving strategic positioning of materials in Europe and the Americas, and introducing new procurement technology. Mickey also worked as a materials manager at M/A-Com, Inc., a division of Tyco International.  While at M/A-Com, Mickey developed and implemented strategic plans and integrated roadmaps to accompany a supply chain model.  She also introduced a pilot manufacturing resource management system. During her career, Mickey also worked as a purchasing manager at Advanced Techcom, Inc., Innova Corporation, and Motorola. Mickey is a member of the Institute for Supply Management. Mickey earned a B.A. in Material Logistic Management from Michigan State University.

Monica Schrager Monica Schrager, Senior Strategic Analyst, Fry, Inc.
Since joining Fry in 1999, Monica has worked with clients to develop the online strategy and optimal user experience for their transactional online applications. She helps clients define user groups and their needs, conducts usability testing with those groups, evaluates and documents features, and then works closely with members of other Fry disciplines to ensure delivery of the applications. Monica also helps to define Web site management requirements and conducts client training on management tools. She assists with the implementation of Fry partners' search, data analysis and rich product imaging tools such as Endeca, EasyAsk, WebTrends, RichFX and Scene7.

Monica has contributed to the online operations of clients like Godiva, Eddie Bauer, Lillian Vernon, Whirlpool, Spiegel, Newport News, Circuit City, Seagate, Sara Lee, Spiegel, and OnStar.

Prior to joining Fry, Monica was a member of the user experience group for an international human resource software firm (since acquired by Hewitt Associates) where she twice redesigned the corporate Web site and contributed to the design of the software’s user experience and help system.

Jeffrey Sippel, Director of Hotel Technology, Orbitz Worldwide
Jeff is the Director of Hotel Technology at Orbitz Worldwide, a division of Travelport, Inc. In this role, he oversees the technical strategy and direction of the hotel systems that power websites such as Orbitz.com, Cheaptickets.com and eBookers.com. He has also been a leader in building Travelport’s distributive development team, allowing software development teams to own and manage specific sets of services that drive the Orbitz technology. Prior to managing the hotel technology group, Jeff helped to design and build key components of the Orbitz.com and American Airlines websites. Before joining Orbitz, Jeff was a technology consultant at Ernst & Young, specializing in web and mobile technologies.

Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, and a Master of Business Administration from the Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.

Thieme was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1944 and graduated from Northwestern University in 1965 with a B.A. in English literature (highest honors, Phi Beta Kappa). His non-academic education included working with the Daley political organization. After living in Madrid, Spain for a year, he attended the University of Chicago (Title IV NDEA Fellow) and received an M.A. in English literature. He taught literature and writing at the University of Illinois-Chicago and wrote fiction in his twenties. Then, after two years in England and a three-year professional Master's degree from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, he became an Episcopal priest and led parishes for sixteen years in three very different cultures: Salt Lake City, Utah; the Hawaiian island of Maui; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His passion for exploring the impact of technology on institutions and organizations — business, education, government, religion — and his extensive experience with leadership, management, organizational dynamics, and cultural diversity led him to establish ThiemeWorks in 1993 to pursue a career of professional speaking, consulting, and writing.
 

Vinai Trichure, Research Director, Supply Chain Executive Board
Vinai brings more than twelve years of experience in supply chain management to his role as Research Director with the Supply Chain Executive Board, and is responsible for shaping the Board’s research agenda, uncovering best practices addressing shared member challenges, and communicating relevant practices and insights to Board members. Vinai has presented the Board’s findings at cross-industry Annual Executive Sessions, and at senior leadership meetings at over 100 member organizations.
 
Vinai’s prior work experience spans both industry and academia. At i2 Technologies, Vinai led supply chain and business process re-engineering engagements and consulted with U.S. and European clients. At the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park, Vinai led industry-funded research projects on management frameworks for integrating product design, supply chain management and marketing strategy. Vinai has published extensively on this subject in academic and practitioner journals and presented his research at national and international conferences.
 
Vinai received his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Operations Research/Management Science from the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland at College Park.

Mudit has ten years of experience in creating cutting edge networking technologies and their implementation in live networks. Mudit works as a Senior Engineer at Nevis Networks a provider of Gig speed LAN security products. He recently held positions of Principal Engineer, and Director of Customer Engineering at Inkra Networks. Prior to joining Inkra, Mudit worked on the layer three switching technologies at Nortel Networks. Mudit came to Nortel via the acquisition of Bay Networks in September 1998. Mudit joined Bay Networks through the company’s acquisition of Rapid-City Communications, where he was a senior engineer, working on the layer three gigabit Ethernet switching product line. Mudit served as a researcher in the network research group at University of New Mexico prior to joining Rapid-City.

Mudit received his BS in Physics and Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. He received his MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a focus on communications and internet technology, from University of New Mexico.
