Paul Baboian
RFID Business Development Manager, Zebra

The majority of Paul's career has been within the manufacturing sector; primarily material handling, process and assembly applications. As early as 1990, Paul was heavily involved in RFID, with implementation of some of the initial RFID systems within the Semiconductor and Electronics industries. Those applications focused on improving flexible automation, work flow, and quality control data capabilities.

In his current role as Zebra's Business Development Manager, Paul provides counsel and support to many Consumer Product and manufacturing companies, many of which are currently facing RFID mandates from Wal*Mart, Target, BestBuy, and the Department of Defense. Paul's experience with RFID technology allows him to assist in many aspects, from RFID project planning through vendor selection through full implementation.

Paul earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Administration from Millersville University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Katherine Brown
Technical Manager, 3M Corporate Research Laboratory
Software, Electronic, and Mechanical Systems Laboratory

Dr. Brown holds a Ph. D. from the California Institute of Technology, 1980. Joined 3M Company in 1980. Katherine has occupied a variety of technical and management positions in 3M's Corporate Research Labs and tape and label-related business units. Her technical expertise includes chemistry, materials science and RFID. She is a noted inventor on 27 issued U.S. patents. Since 1999, working on RFID in 3M's Software, Electronics and Mechanical Systems Lab.

Pat Finn
Director of Sales - Americas, Alien Technology

Mr. Patrick Finn has been involved in the auto ID industry for more than a decade, working in sales, marketing, and product management for Zebra Technologies, SAMSys Technologies, and Alien Technologies. Mr. Finn has participated in several industry workgroups, including the AIAG B-11 Data Collection Work Group and AIM Global's Standards Advisory Group for Animal Tagging, and has been a speaker at numerous industry events. Since joining Alien earlier this year, Mr. Finn has been involved with many of the industry's leading RFID technology users.

Mr. Finn received his BBA in Business with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, and received is MBA, graduating with distinction, from the Keller Graduate School of Management.

 

Dr. Bruce Kahn
Professor, Rochester Institute of Technology

 

Daniel Mahoney
RFID Business Development, HK Systems

Dan began his career in the logistics industry back with Boise Cascade Corporation where he designed and developed distribution facilities utilizing state of the art automated material handling and inventory control systems. Dan went on to start a facility management practice with a major Milwaukee area architectural & engineering firm specializing in distribution/industrial site development, where he had overall responsibility for the planning, design, and cost development of numerous corporate projects. Since joining HK Systems in 1998, Dan has applied his knowledge of warehousing and distribution to develop technology based logistics solutions.

Dan holds a BS Industrial Engineering from Southern Illinois University and a MBA from the University of Wisconsin. He is the author of several industry white papers and has presented at numerous conferences and trade shows.

 

Ed Matthews
Director of Information Systems, Pacific Cycle

Ed Matthews is director of information systems for Pacific Cycle, a leader in the design, marketing and distribution of bicycles and other recreational products. Since joining the company in 1997, Matthews has led projects such as the implementation of a new ERP system, the integration of multiple acquisitions, multiple EDI transaction sets, warehouse management, SAP business intelligence and UCCnet product synchronization. In recent years, he has been actively involved in the company's RFID program, and in 2004 Pacific Cycle became the first bicycle suppler in the U.S. to start shipping product into retail with RFID tags.

 

Reik W. Read
Senior Research Analyst, Baird

Reik Read is Baird's senior analyst covering Supply Chain Technology and EMS & Electronics. Prior to joining Baird in 2000, Reik was an analyst with B.C. Ziegler. Prior to that, he was a management consultant with Ernst & Young. He received a BS in Economics and an MBA, both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
